Online or offline communication - new publication launched!

"Online or offline communication - when to use, what to consider?" guidebook aims to make it easier to find the right channel to communicate the intended message to the audience. It is meant to motivate local authorities to experiment different channels of communication and to work as a reminder and a check list.
Guidebook is based on the experience gained in a project ”NEAT 2.0 – New Environmental Awareness Tools” 2009-2011.

The guidebook is published in English and Russian. Enjoy!

In the framework of the project "Development of Environmental Games around Baltic Sea" implemented under the Programme of cooperation between the Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety and the Ministry of the Environment of Finland in 2010 in St. Petersburg Russian-Finnish master-class was organised by partners, where teachers from Russia and Finland shared their experience in development and use of games for raising of environmental awareness. Presented eco-games were accumulated in the DVD and distributed among teachers in partner countries. They also can be downloaded HERE...

Aiming to involve young generation in tackling the problems of the Baltic Sea, the Ministry of the Environment of Finland, the Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety of the City of St. Petersburg, City of Kotka, City of Turku, the Commission on Environment of Union of the Baltic Cities, a Finnish NGO "VALONIA" organized a Russian-Finnish comics competition for school students "WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR THE BALTIC SEA". This is our joint contribution to the implementation of the Baltic Sea Action Plan.

Biodiversity: Questions and Answers

Issued in 1996 by Council of Europe the booklet “Biodiversity: Questions and Answers” caused big interest of Russian readers. Due to the kind support of the Consulate General of The Netherlands in St. Petersburg and kind permission of the authors the booklet have been translated into Russian and handed over to educational organizations of the city.

The Green Drama – by means of drama towards sustainable development Konivuori Heli and Hiltunen Jaana

Presented in October 2009 at the Russian-Finnish conference «Environmental Education and Public Awareness – New Approaches» new method of environmental education by means of Green Drama caused enormous interest of Russian colleagues. Due to the kind support of the Finish ministry for the environment and authors of the method these materials have been translated into Russian and now can be used by all dealing with raising of public awareness on environmental issues.
The characters of the books are based on the illustrations of the author Solja Jarvenpaa. The Russian version of the illustrations are done by Andrey Booga and Mikhail Chefonov

The book contribute to the illumination of the Baltic Sea, gives a comprehensive overview of the diversity and teeming life of the Baltic Sea.
The book prepared within in the framework of the LIFE Nature project "Marine Protected Areas in the Eastern Baltic Sea" (LIFE05NAT/LV/000100).
The book prepared and printed with a contribution from the LIFE financial instrument of the European Community. The content of this publication is the sole responsibility of the Baltic Environmental Forum and can in no way be taken to reflect the views of the European Union.

A "Green Pack" set of educational materials was developed for high school teachers and students, as well as for the system of extended education. At the same time, it can be used at high-school level institutions of professional and special education.
The set focuses attention on specific topics and issues connected with environmental protection and sustainable development. It contains four types of educational materials: a manual for teachers, including by-lesson plans and working sheets for students; a three-hour video tape with a number of various video clips and educational films, a СD-RОМ with additional information on the subjects taught and the "Problems and dilemmas" game. Besides that, the set includes an informational booklet about it and the certificate form for education. This way, users of the "Green Package" can lead educational classes following manual's instructions for teachers; visualize them with the help of the films on the video tape and complimenting the material studied with information from СD-RОМs of recommended Internet sites.

Guidance manual "The Nature of St. Petersburg"

This manual is intended for high school teachers, pedagogues of supplementary education, students and teachers of pedagogical high schools; it contains recommendations on carrying out thematic lessons on the "Nature of St. Petersburg" at 5-8th grades for enhancing the level of ecological literacy and environmental education of high school students and education of careful attitude towards the city nature. The manual was prepared on the basis of educational principles for sustainable development and efficient education. Educational recommendations are oriented towards carrying out traditional and non-traditional field classes with school students facilitating their independent research and educational skills.
